The Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation "Helping Our Relatives" Response Fund

We are living in an extraordinary time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While this virus does not discriminate and there is not a corner of the globe that is not impacted, we are witnessing how economic disparity is a death sentence for the poorest among us. While many communities can take advantage of strong and well-equipped healthcare systems to detect and contain COVID-19, the challenge of tackling this disease in low-income, tribal communities could prove to be the greatest challenge of our time.

As the weeks go on, the hardship on our relatives, children and families will intensify. Many already on the financial edge may be pushed into financial ruin and states of crisis. Food insecurities (a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life) in rural and reservation communities will rise even further.  In addition, many of our children will be left with little access to the fundamentals of a basic education for lack of computers, laptops and access to the internet.

In response to the Covid-19 crisis, the NB3 Foundation has created the “Helping Our Relatives” Covid-19 Response Fund.  This donor driven fund will support two primary areas within Native American communities:

1. Access to nutritional food and clean water,

2. Access to education opportunities and youth development.

Over the next several weeks, this COVID-19 Response Fund will directly support families and children living within the Navajo Nation, New Mexico and tribes in South Dakota.  The key is “directly.”  Your funds will not go to overhead, bureaucracies or middlemen.  We will identify on-the-ground needs and directly support these areas. Every cent given will help families in need.

Please help us beat this pandemic by providing critical resources directly to our tribal relatives living in many of the most vulnerable places in this country.
