FIJI FIRE NATIVE BONGO CHILLI HOT SAUCE 150ML $14 Fiji Fire Native Bongo Chilli Hot Sauce is made with the native chilli of Fiji known as the Bongo Chilli and combines a fruitiness, earthiness, fresh zing and a chunky chilli flavour all from natural locally grown Fijian ingredients. The Bongo chilli is a habanero that was first grown in Fiji and is a sweeter, tangier variety than your standard habanero and grows into big bright red pods. The use of the chilli in this sauce is a stand out and there is a wonderful balance between the freshness of the Bongo and the other locally sourced ingredients including the zinginess from the vinegar, the sweetness from the carrots and the earthiness from the wild picked turmeric. This hot sauce is made in a chunkier style but is absolutely perfect to allow the tanginess of the Bongo chilli to shine through. Featuring on Season 11 of the Hot Ones. This sauce has very quickly become a new favourite and I use it absolutely everywhere but if I had to make a call, it's especially suited to white meat and grilled fish.
Torchbearer Zombie Apocalypse Hot Sauce -$20 is a hot and intense but surprisingly fruity hot sauce that has a slow lingering heat and a satisfying citrus zing. When you open the bottle the ghost pepper is the first smell to hit you this is then followed closely by the fruity smell of mandarin. This sauce combines Ghost Peppers and Habaneros with a mix of spices, vegetables, vinegar and oil to create an almost sweet intense hot sauce. The heat in this hot sauce may not be obvious right away but creeps up on you and with 16 ghost pepper pods per bottle this something worth waiting for. Featured on Season 3 of Hot Ones Perfect for a barbecue steak and works magic on roasted veggies including roasted potatoes.
Torchbearer Reaper Evil Hot Sauce -$20 bursting with flavour of Carolina Reaper, garlic and onion and is a sauce that the team at Torchbearer are a little bit afraid of You can definitely smell the chillies and garlic as well as a hint of pepper. There is a nice zing of vinegar and a hint of garlic when the sauce first hits your tongue, and then the Carolina Reaper kicks in and settles in for the party. Perfect for your beef burger creations
Secret Aardvark Serrabanero Green Hot Sauce -$12 combines serrano and habanero chillies with green tomatoes and tangy tomatillos to create a green hot sauce that has more kick than your typical green hot sauce. Stacy from Secret Aardvark describes this sauce as American Green and will clearly tell you that "Serrabanero is not a Verde sauce!" There is a fresh and zesty flavour to this sauce mainly from the tomatillos and coriander combined with a strong hit of garlic and other spices. You get heat from both the serrano and habanero chillies and you can also taste some pepper thrown in. While this sauce rated at a medium level it is much hotter than what you would expect from a typical green hot sauce. Add it to your guacamole, soup or favourite Mexican food but it is a perfect match for a nice piece of grilled fish.
Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce -$12 is a Caribbean/Tex-Mex fusion sauce made with habanero, roasted tomatoes and a whole lot of heat and flavour! Featured on Season 4 of Hot Ones! The combination of roasted tomatoes, vinegar and mustard gives the sauce its fusion style a bit like a salsa crossed with a tomato sauce. It has a thick, slightly chunky, consistency that is easy to pour out of the handy squeeze bottle. The carrot and tomato give this sauce its sweetness and mustard and vinegar its tang. This is all rounded out in flavour from a wide range of spices and the heat is delivered from the ever-fabulous habanero, in this sauce it is not a strong up-front heat but definitely one that builds with each serving. If you asked Stacy at Secret Aardvark she will tell you to "dump on everything" and while she is bit biased, she is not far wrong this is a very versatile hot sauce. But if I had to choose then it would be in a typical Aussie beef burger with The Lot.
