Don’t wait until you’re in a position where your life is put on the line. Don’t wait until there is a timeline, counting down the days, before you truly start to value your life and who you are. It’s a mistake I made. • Some of you might know, but most of you don’t - I’ve been battling an illness since last November that has really taken a toll on not only me but my entire family and some of my closest friends. After countless doctors appointments -seeing 2 Gastroenterologist, 2 Oncologists, 1 Allergist and 1 Infectious Diseases Dr., with 10 months of thinking it was an autoimmune disease, and having 3 procedures that included an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, a bone marrow aspiration, and the removal of a lymphatic site in my left arm pit within the last month - I received a phone call today at about 2:00 pm (8/22/19) and through the conversation I was told that that this illness I’m dealing with is consistent with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Cancer of the white blood cells - lymphocytes). Though we do not know the severity of it just yet, that information will soon be known. • Even though I do not know what the future holds, I can’t help but smile and think how blessed I am. I have the most amazing support system behind me - in my family and friends. With them I truly believe I will win this battle.And if you know me, you know I will too. • They say no matter what you go through in life or where you’re going, your mind has already been there; and though I don’t have control over this situation fully, I do have control over the actions I take and the feelings I choose to feel during this process. I CHOOSE HAPPINESS.I CHOOSE POSITIVITY.I CHOOSE TO TRUST IN GOD,AND THE POWER OF PRAYER.
