Bonnie Paine & Bridget Law The enchanting collaboration between Bonnie Paine and Bridget Law is equal parts discovery and intuitive familiarity formed over nearly two decades of friendship. When playing together, they share the sparkle of this connection through their exchange of melodies and gentle yet strong presence with each other, a warmth that reaches itself out into any room. Bonnie’s vocals warble and wend through her songs whose contents are in turns rich, like dark loamy soil, haunting like a reminder of something forgotten, and playful like the type of innocence that can be chosen by grownups. Her rhythmic leanings are like invisible bones of the songs, an anchor that allows for a kite-like flowing, carrying us with her as she and Bridget explore melodies together. Bridget meets Bonnie on these tunes with the skill and confidence of a master craftsperson. Her fiddling is in some ways, no-nonsense in that it is sturdy like an earth creature, some sort of ancient horse whose function is as present as its majesty. Bridget is equally capable of bowing out a dashing fill or climbing into exhilarating crescendos of folkloric resolution, as she is weaving lilting melodies through Bonnie’s songs, drawing her fiddle into the background of a verse like a field of grasses holding a breeze. Together, these two welcome audiences into their collaboration and open little portals into temporary dimensions of which- some might say- only music is capable of building.

When COVID hit, we weren't sure how we were going to continue the tradition. And then a light bulb went off. Poulos Park is an underutilized pocket park on Grand Avenue, just a few doors down from The Paradise.
