We Are Athletes 10:00 AM In a society where neurotypical athletes are the norm, the Adaptive Sports Foundation in Windham, NY, challenges this perception. This inspiring award-winning documentary follows Farryl, a 10-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, and Matt, a 33-year-old wounded war veteran. As an ASF athlete, Farryl strives to conquer the ski slopes independently, while Matt seeks a renewed sense of purpose and a reason to keep moving despite his chronic pain. Their journeys—filled with trepidation and determination—see them aspiring to achieve what often seems impossible, even with the tremendous support of the adaptive sports community. Witness the setbacks and triumphs of two passionate athletes determined to defy the odds and accomplish their dreams on and off the snow. Angel Gates Fonseca’s "We Are Athletes" highlights the transformative power of adaptive sports and redefines what it means to be an athlete today. 37m 0s Echoes from the Santa Fe Trail 11:30 AM Jackie Fleming, who is an author using the pen name Anne J. Thomas, writes both fiction and non-fiction stories set along the Santa Fe Trail. In 2018, she set out with her dog Holly, and horse Fancy, to visit all of the major Santa Fe Trail landmarks within New Mexico. This documentary follows that journey, along with historical commentary by Jackie's dad Tony Fleming. Accompanying them on the trip are the ghosts of those long ago travelers of the trail, whose voices, gleaned from various memoirs and letters, are brought to life by a handful of guest speakers. Not only is this an evocative pilgrimage by a woman who is drawn to a past life and time, it is also an informative narrative of an era in American history before the advent of the Industrial Revolution changed everything. 39m 7m
