Many organizations seeking to expand workplace mental health and suicide prevention efforts are undermined by stigma. Often invisible, stigma creates barriers to care for persons experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. Stigma stems from bias and arises from many sources, including a lack of awareness and preexisting perceptions, stereotypes, and falsehoods. The effects of stigma are far-reaching with organizational and human consequences. Discover how to reduce stigma and promote allyship to support persons seeking recovery. Cal Beyer, CWP, NAC is Sr. Director of SAFE Workplaces. Cal educates, equips, and empowers leaders and organizations to address root causes of addiction and amplifies the voices of those in recovery to promote successful solutions in workplaces. He serves on the Executive Committee for the National Action Alliance for Suicide and on the Lived Experience Advisory Committee of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. He is a former recipient of CFMA’s Chairman Award in 2017 and the Danny Parrish Outstanding Leadership Award in 2016.

Ronna Yablonski
Ronna Yablonski, Sr. Director of Prevention, joined the SAFE Project team in 2021 with two decades of experience in the areas of youth substance use prevention and community-based coalition development. Ronna focuses on fostering resilience and wellbeing, reducing risk of substance addiction and mental health challenges while enhancing protection through prevention and recovery strategies. Ronna works with each SAFE Project portfolio to embed effective prevention strategies and tactics to reduce the effects of substance use.
