

Our 3rd Annual Mac n Cheese Cook Off! Please register if you plan to compete! General Rules: As Macaroni and Cheese is one of the most basic of all of the world’s most highly-regarded and exalted foods, on which man has exerted his highest culinary efforts and acumen, we have endeavored to keep our rules simple as well. Please read the following rules and adhere to them diligently. The rules are enforced on the honor system. Please do not violate them and detract from the fun and good nature of this event. Must use macaroni (elbow or straight) pasta. Can be pre-packaged or homemade noodles. Adherence to the spirit of the event by making the macaroni and cheese component of your dish the primary focus of the taste and experience, NOT merely a component of the dish. This is not to say you should not be creative. Simply keep the primary purpose of the Macaroni and Cheese experience in mind. Be mindful of dietary precautions by making note of all possible allergens (nuts, gluten, shellfish, etc.) or dietary restrictions (Vegan, vegetarian, etc.) and making such components known on an accompanying card in large, legible letters. This applies to both competition categories. You may name your dish but do not select a name that may be deemed offensive or off-color, especially to the guests who will likely be in attendance. We expect about 40 people at this event and we want to make sure everyone gets a good taste of your culinary efforts. Please make enough of your dish that everyone in attendance can get a 2-3 ounce serving to be judged. Keep in mind that some people may go back for seconds, after the contest is over. So, making a little extra might be a good idea. Category #1 Original, Homemade Macaroni and Cheese All other ingredients, besides the pasta, must be natural (vegetables, meats, etc.) or otherwise made/used from scratch. No premade/store bought cheese sauces or other ingredients such as salsa, chili or similar additives. Such components must also be made from scratch. Melting cheese is not a violation of this rule. Category #2 Best version of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (Powder Version) Must use Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (powder version) as the base of your dish. With the General Rules noted above in mind, you are encouraged to make as many additions and upgrades to the recipe as you like. Added ingredients can be natural (vegetables and meats), processed (sausage, hotdogs, etc.), premade (salsa, chili, sauces, etc.) or made/used from scratch. Melting additional cheese in all forms IS a violation and is NOT permitted. Please adhere to the event’s spirit of fun and keep competition as the secondary objective.
