Paint Your Own Octopus Under "Glass"!

Paint with Award Winning Artist Lara Kempke! Have you seen the Oscar winning documentary, My Octopus Teacher? That's what really sparked my fascination with octopuses--aside from being a powerfully moving film, it got me so curious about these odd creatures, that we knew so little about. I had already painted a them a few times, but then I began collecting little factoids and tidbits, and I started painting them a LOT. When I started teaching workshops, I chose the octopus because I had learned by then that they are surprisingly intuitive to paint, and even novices can get really satisfying results. And I love to share all those factoids and share painting tips and tricks. So for this workshop, I will teach you to paint an octopus on an 8x8 wood panel with acrylic paints. We will talk about the octopus to help understand how it's body moves, I'll share painting techniques that I have learned in my 20 years as a professional artist, and probably laugh a lot! After we finish painting we will take a short break (feel free to get a snack or a drink from one of the eateries on site), and then I will guide you through pouring resin on it for a a glass-like finish! You will take home your project that day--carefully though, the resin takes 24 hours to cure! Class fee: $80 per person (covers all materials). Gloves and apron will be provided, but you might get messy Dress accordingly!
