Little Green Acres

About

A Week of Geological Adventures Dig into the fascinating world of rocks and uncover the secrets hidden beneath your feet! Campers will explore the unique geological history of the farm and surrounding area, learn about different types of rocks, and discover why this land is a treasure trove for budding geologists. The farm sits on glacial scree, a jumble of rocks left behind by ancient glaciers. Some of these rocks may have traveled hundreds of miles over thousands of years before being deposited on the farm, making every stone a piece of geological history! Among the special finds is green jasper, and campers will go on an exciting hunt to see if they can spot some of this beautiful stone. Throughout the week, campers will learn to identify different types of rocks, including quartz, sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. They’ll search for fascinating inclusions and patterns within the stones and even crack open geodes to reveal their sparkling treasures. The fun continues at the lake, where campers will hunt for the perfect skipping stones and practice their rock-skipping techniques. Whether competing for the most skips or perfecting their throw, this activity combines skill, fun, and laughter. This immersive week combines exploration, discovery, and hands-on activities, leaving campers with a newfound appreciation for geology and the incredible journeys rocks take through time and space.
