About

The Big Beautiful Bill: An Overview Webinar Join us for an exclusive breakdown of the "Big Beautiful Bill" and what the new tax landscape means for your bottom line. This session will provide construction industry executives, financial leaders, and tax professionals with a practical update on recent legislative and judicial developments that directly impact federal tax incentives commonly utilized by construction companies. We will begin with an overview of the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and related tax law changes, focusing on how recent legislation continues to reshape planning around the R&D Tax Credit and Section 174 capitalization and amortization requirements, updates to the Section 179D energy-efficient commercial building deduction, and evolving clean and renewable energy credit provisions that affect contractors, designers, and building owners. Emphasis will be placed on where opportunities have expanded, where compliance risks have increased, and how construction companies should be adjusting their tax strategies in response. The session will also cover recent and noteworthy case law that is influencing how the IRS and courts evaluate R&D tax credit and 179D claims. We will discuss Johnson v. Commissioner, U.S. v. Oehler, and Phoenix Design Group v. Commissioner, highlighting key takeaways around documentation standards, qualifying activities, burden of proof, and the importance of contemporaneous project records. Attendees will gain insight into how these cases affect audit risk, study defensibility, and best practices for construction companies seeking to maximize incentives while minimizing exposure. The discussion will be practical and example-driven, with clear guidance on what construction companies should be doing differently today as a result of these developments. CPE CREDIT: 1 hour
