Workshop: Paint a Koi under Resin!

Workshop to be held at Surf City Artisan Fair, Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, 499 Pacific Coast Highway Huntington Beach, CA Koi are widely considered symbols of luck and good fortune--perfect to invite good fortune into your life! Think this painting looks complicated? It's really not....and here's why: Your wood panel--your "canvas" for this piece-- will be prepped and painted for you, so you get to just dive in to the fun stuff. Then you'll use the stencils I've made to draw on the koi--zero guesswork, just tracing! After that it's just a matter of adding color! As a professional artist and experienced instructor of all skill levels, I will walk you through each step of applying paint. We'll do it together, methodically and at an easy pace. You will watch your koi come to life in front of your eyes! Novices and practiced artists alike will get wonderful results. When your koi is complete, we will take a little break--perfect time to stretch your legs, get a beverage or snack, and walk around the artisan fair, or soak in the ocean views. Meanwhile I will set up for Phase Two: resin! I will walk you through the last step of mixing and pouring resin over the top of your masterpiece. You won't believe the elegant and elevated look this will bring your finished piece! I'll show you my tips and tricks for getting as smooth a finish as possible. Once the liquid resin is poured we will cover it with aluminum foil to protect it. The resin does take 24 hours to dry! So you will be able to transport your covered piece home with you--keeping it level--and put it somewhere safe at home to cure. The next day it will be hardened, and ready for you to proudly display!
