Entrepreneurs of color are disproportionately impacted when it comes to economic access and opportunities compared to their counterparts. At today’s pace of change, it will take too long to reach wealth equality. In New Mexico, we struggle with this and the lack of economic diversification, relying heavily on the oil and gas industry. We need to develop an inclusive, diversified economy for the future of New Mexico. The New Mexico BIPOC Entrepreneurs Initiative will make a step change by helping BIPOC entrepreneurs to build sustainable wealth in their communities through entrepreneurial empowerment and expansion of their network and ecosystem of supporters to ensure they have access to investments, resources, and knowledge. How might we come together to reimagine the ecosystem and disrupt systemic barriers so that BIPOC businesses - and their communities - flourish? We will be launching a mentoring initiative to elevate BIPOC entrepreneurs.
