We are excited to announce a powerful author talk and book signing featuring two New York Times Bestselling authors, D. Watkins in conversation with Ibram Kendi.

In his new book, We Speak for Ourselves, "Watkins introduces you to Down Bottom, the storied community of East Baltimore that holds a mirror to America’s poor black neighborhoods—“hoods” that could just as easily be in Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, or Atlanta. As Watkins sees it, the perspective of people who live in economically disadvantaged black communities is largely absent from the commentary of many top intellectuals who speak and write about race."

On June 2, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM D. Watkins will be joining us at MahoganyBooks to discuss his new book with conversation host Dr. Ibram Kendi, the award-winning author of Stamped from the Beginning. "Unapologetic and sharp-witted, D. Watkins is here to tell the truth as he has seen it."

Join us at MahoganyBooks, located inside of the Anacostia Arts Center, for an incredible afternoon of conversation, insight, laughter, and activism.
